Do I need to send the referral directly?
No, this is not mandatory but highly recommended.
Please accompany all referrals with:
- A valid prescription for any medication to be infused
- Relevant pathology results that support the diagnosis and treatment

Can I just give the referral to the patient?
Yes. If you choose to give the referral directly to the patient, please advise them to:
- Call us on 02 8552 9300 or visit our website to book their appointment
- Upload their referral and any relevant documentation during the booking process
Will I need to provide a script?
Yes. A valid prescription is required for all medications to be administered at the clinic.
Will I need to include blood tests?
Yes. Relevant blood tests should be included to support diagnosis and ensure safe treatment, particularly for medications like iron infusions and certain biologics.
Can I get custom referral pads sent to me?
Yes. Once registered as a referring provider, a medical liaison from our team will contact you to organise referral pads and any other resources you may need. These can be sent to your clinic free of charge.
What infusions do you offer?
TopDoc Infusion Clinic offers a wide range of medical infusions, including:
- Iron infusions
- Antibiotic infusions (e.g. ceftriaxone, flucloxacillin)
- Biologic therapies for autoimmune and inflammatory conditions
- Bone health treatments (e.g. zoledronic acid, denosumab)
- Hydration and fluid replacement
- Intralipid therapy
If you have a patient requiring an infusion not listed above, please contact us to discuss. We can often accommodate special cases.
Do you offer Medicare rebates to patients?
No. We are a privately billed clinic.
However, we do offer a $20 discount on all medical infusions for patients who hold a valid Pension or Healthcare card.
Are there any infusions you don't accept?
Yes. For patient safety and clinical appropriateness, the following types of infusions are not accepted at TopDoc Infusion Clinic:
- Chemotherapy or cytotoxic infusions
- Antibiotic infusions requiring renal monitoring, therapeutic drug level testing (e.g. gentamicin, vancomycin), or more than two doses per day
- Blood product transfusions (e.g. IVIG, red cells, platelets)
How soon can patients be booked in?
Most patients can be booked in within a few days, depending on availability and whether all referral details have been received.
For urgent cases, please call us on (02) 8551 9300 to arrange a priority booking.
Can I speak to a nurse or doctor before referring?
Yes. If you’d like to discuss a complex case or confirm patient suitability, please contact us on (02) 8551 9300 and one of our clinical staff will be happy to assist.
Do patients need a pre-infusion consult?
No formal consult is required unless specifically requested by the referring doctor.
Patients will be clinically screened by a registered nurse prior to their infusion.
Do you accept urgent referrals or time-sensitive cases?
Yes. For urgent referrals, please contact our clinic directly on (02) 8551 9300 to organise a priority booking.
